PlayStation Now: Is It Worth It? Ombra Reacts
For those of you who don’t know, I’ve recently joined the PlayStation 4 squad and it’s been a blast. I’ve enjoyed my foray back into Sony and remembered just how much I loved having a PS2 way back when. I had heard of Sony’s game streaming service PlayStation Now and I was curious about it. There’s currently a sale on their subscription service if you’re a PlayStation Plus member, so I decided to sign up for a month to try it.
The game inventory is impressive. With over 650 games available to play and more being added every month, there’s definitely something for everyone. From the God of War series to Ratchet and Clank, there are many classics that I was very excited to get my hands on. As of now, users need to have a fairly strong internet connection in order to stay connected to the games’ servers while streaming. There have been reports of users experiencing lag or getting kicked off the servers in the past. I’ve only had a couple of experiences with frame rate drops and it’s usually been when there’s a lot of activity going on with the network. There has been some news that gamers will be able to download their game data from the cloud, enabling the ability to play games offline.
Another perk with PlayStation Now is that users can play their games on any compatible PC. Considering my current setup is rather lackluster in comparison, I’ve stuck with just using my PS4, but it is definitely something to consider for those that may be deciding on if they should subscribe to the service.
Overall, I’ve found it to be a great experience and I’m really glad that I was able to get a month to try it out. Considering I’ve been satisfied with the service, I’m looking to get the yearly subscription while it’s still on sale. Have you tried the PSN service?
